REGIONAL CULTURE

Most people who visit this part of France have heard of, or have visited the Medieval city of Carcassonne, about an hour’s drive from Les Sablons. But have you ever thought of making a stop at Minervas or driving around the quaint roads in the Corbières region and taking a detour to the Abbey of Fontfroide?
Béziers is well worth at least a day. Going up the River Orb, you will pass by Roquebrun, you can also press on up to Olargues, which ranked as one of France’s most beautiful villages.

Further north, about half an hour’s drive away, you will find Pézenas, home to Molière and, some fabulous mansions! If you continue on for a further half hour you’ll reach, Saint-Guilhem-Le-Désert. Let us know what you think.
To the west is the Etang de Thau and its ports which are not to be missed: Sète, Marseillan, Bouzigues and the Greek city of Agde.
